Business Analyst – Publications, Approvals & Patent Applications Initial 6 month freelance contract + possible extension afterLeuven, Belgium (3 days onsite per week)1st June start40 hours/weekThe assignmentCollaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business requirements related to publication processes, approval workflows, and patent application systems Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), including user story writing, backlog management, acceptance criteria definition, and DoD/DoR practices Translate business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Brief and translate to key development partners for build Facilitate workshops, meetings, and stakeholder discussions to align on requirements and priorities Work closely with technical teams to ensure accurate implementation of solutions Support project management activities including planning, tracking progress, and managing risks and dependencies Design and execute test plans, coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing), and ensure solutions meet business requirements Analyze and manage data related to publications and patent applications, ensuring data integrity and usability Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend scalable solutions Maintain documentation including process flows, system diagrams, and requirement specifications Required knowledge and skillsProven experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in environments involving publications, approvals, or intellectual property/patent processes Strong understanding of business analysis methodologies and tools (e.G., user stories, process mapping, requirement documentation) Solid technical acumen with the ability to communicate effectively with development teams Experience with project management principles and tools (Agile/Scrum experience is a plus) Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences Preferred Qualifications: Experience with workflow automation tools or document management systems Knowledge of data visualization or reporting tools (e.G., Power BI, Tableau) Certification in Business Analysis (e.G., CBAP) or Agile methodologies Key Competencies: Analytical thinking and problem-solving Strong communication and interpersonal skills Organizational and project management abilities Adaptability and continuous improvement mindset Attention to detail and quality focus
