As a Private Assets Investment Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Private Markets Investment Manager to analyze, implement, and monitor private markets investments. You will be part of the Front Office managing all financial investments of Ethias SA, amounting to approximately €18 billion.
You will oversee a portfolio of non-quoted assets, primarily in Belgium, including private debt (bilateral loans), infrastructure projects (debt or equity), and to a lesser extent, private equity.
You will work in coordination with and support from a senior colleague. Depending on your skills and experience, your tasks may include:
1. Identifying and approaching SMEs/corporates or developers; acting as the point of contact for external project sponsors. Representing Ethias and seeking new opportunities with entrepreneurs or project developers, considering internal constraints.
2. Performing due diligence tasks such as administering Q&A, maintaining a relevant document repository, following up on checklists, challenging received inputs, and identifying key risks.
3. Applying your financial expertise to critically evaluate investment opportunities quickly to avoid unnecessary expenditure of time and resources, maintaining focus.
4. Developing complex financial models in Excel and creating scenario analyses.
And what more challenging responsibilities?
You will lead negotiations on legal documentation, draft investment memoranda analyzing business models, cash flow generation, risk mitigation strategies, and prepare documents for investment committee discussions and defend your proposals. You will also monitor the portfolio and perform complex internal valuation exercises, among other responsibilities.

What skills and talents do you bring to Ethias?
* Master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience in financial or investment analysis.
* Proven experience in M&A or credit analysis, with strong modeling skills; experience managing listed or non-listed investments is a plus.
* Fluent in English, with good knowledge of French or Dutch; Dutch language skills are a plus.
* Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office and Excel; basic knowledge of programming languages such as VBA or Python is advantageous.
* Experience with debt, project, or equity structuring.
* Strong financial modeling skills and sound judgment.
* Negotiation skills and experience dealing with counterparties.
* Ability to work independently.
* IT skills to develop and improve tools.
* A prudent investor mindset.
