The Cancer Ecosystems and Metastasis Laboratory (CEMLab), led by Dr. Panagiotis Karras at the Institut Jules Bordet and Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), is seeking a junior laboratory technician with hands-on experience in animal procedures as well as cellular and molecular biology techniques.

Fonction
Mouse Colony Management:
1. Oversee and maintain mouse colonies, including breeding, genotyping (DNA extraction, PCR), and meticulous record-keeping.
2. Participate in animal experiments as required.
3. Manage and update the mouse colony database.
4. Ensure compliance with institutional and ethical guidelines for animal care and use.
Wet Lab:
5. Perform molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
6. Maintain laboratory stocks, place orders for supplies, and ensure proper equipment maintenance.
7. Enforce lab safety regulations and contribute to the improvement of experimental procedures.
General Duties:
8. Maintain detailed and accurate records of experiments and procedures.
9. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during experiments.
10. Demonstrate flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Profil
Qualifications
Essential:
11. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in biomedical sciences, biotechnology, animal care, or a related field.
12. FELASA B/C certification with proven experience in mouse handling and colony maintenance.
13. Prior experience in molecular and cell biology techniques.
14. Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
15. Fluency in French and English, both written and oral.
16. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

You have a good command of the second national language or are willing to acquire it (language courses are offered internally during working hours, with the possibility of obtaining a SELOR bilingualism bonus of €150 gross, subject to obtaining Selor Article 10 or 12 certification).
