Research Directions
Centered on two broad areas of sustainable energy and health science and technology, we will explore disruptive technologies across diverse fields, including but not limited to:
Super-power batteries, new photovoltaic, high-efficiency energy storage, extreme manufacturing, intelligent connected vehicles, low-carbon agriculture, organic optoelectronics, future display for energy-related research
Brain health and brain technology, sports health, bioengineering, nutritional health, and whole-life-cycle health for health-related research
Cross-disciplinary research on AI and large models
We welcome brilliant young scholars from diverse disciplines, including materials science, chemistry, physics, mechanics, energy, information science, life sciences, and medicine, among others, to join us in this pursuit.
Academic Support
1. Leading Figures in the Institute
The GIFT Academic Program Committee has assembled eight chair professors and eleven distinguished professors from 11 disciplines, including mechanics, electricity, chemistry, materials science, energy, biology, medicine, and pharmacy, to encourage cross-disciplinary collaborations and combinations of interests. GIFT breaks away from the traditional KPIs and supports the exploration of disruptive, future-oriented technologies.
2. Deep Integration of Industry and Academia
GIFT works closely with leading high-tech companies and medical institutions, such as CATL, Siemens, Huawei, Longi, United Imaging, and Ruijin Hospital, to recruit researchers, train talent, build research bases, and share knowledge and resources. This collaboration fosters the full integration of talent, scientific research, and commercialization, and provides comprehensive support for technology translation from angel rounds to IPOs, thereby encouraging faculty members to promote economic and social development through scientific advancements.
3. First-class Research Platform
GIFT's new building, spanning 60,000 square meters in space, will become a landmark in the "Grand Neo Bay" Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community.
Each faculty member is provided with an independent office space and ample lab space, and young faculty members are given priority in recruiting PhD students.
GIFT closely collaborates with the State Key Laboratories across various disciplines and public platforms, such as the SJTU Instrumental Analysis Center, to provide a high-quality innovation space for faculty.

Position Requirements
1. Passion for Research and Teaching: Educational background, research experience, teaching experience, and talent cultivation from top-tier universities. At least 3 years of international research experience is preferred.
2. Scholarly Achievements: The desirable applicant should have novel scientific research that has yielded important contributions, such as representative papers, patents, awards, etc.
3. Care for Future Industries: Familiar with the development of cutting-edge technologies in the related fields, with the ambition and ability to apply scientific and technological achievements to industry.
