Freelance System Engineer specialized in Vulnerability Management for Microsoft Server and Cloud Infrastructure :6-month contract (renewable), Brussels Hybrid
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the security, compliance, and resilience of Microsoft- based server infrastructure (WindowsServer, Active Directory, EntraID, etc.) and cloud environments (Azure, M365).
You will proactively identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities across both on-premises and cloud platforms,collaborating with stakeholders to implement robust vulnerability management processes and drive continuous improvement in our security posture.
1. Key Responsibilities:
Vulnerability Management
* Participate in vulnerability scanning, assessment, andremediation activities across a broad range of technologies. While the primary focus is on Microsoft products (Windows Server, Active Directory, EntraID, ADFS, Azure, and M365), responsibilities also extend to other platforms such as Linux, hardware, firmware, artificial intelligence (AI) systems, and emerging technologies.
* Analyze vulnerability reports, prioritize risks, and coordinate remediation with relevant teams.
* Maintain and optimize vulnerability management toolsand processes for both on- premises and cloud.
* Track and reporton vulnerability status, remediation progress, and risk posture for all infrastructure.
Server & Cloud Security Operations
* Collaborate with thesecurity team to investigate and respond to security incidents affecting Microsoft server and cloud environments.
* Support patch management, secure configuration, and hardening of Windows Server, Azure, and M365.
* Ensure compliance with internal security policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, DORA).
* Participate in security audits and riskassessments for serverand cloud infrastructure.
Infrastructure Security & Modernization
* Implement and monitorsecurity controls in Microsoft server,Azure, and M365 environments.
* Advise on secureconfiguration and bestpractices for hybrid infrastructure.
* Support migration andmodernization projects witha focus on security.
Continuous Improvement
* Share knowledge and best practices related to vulnerability management for Microsoft and cloud environments.
* Contribute to the development and documentation of security standards and procedures.
* Propose improvements to security processes, tools, and architecture.
* Stay current withemerging threats and vulnerability trendsaffecting Microsoft and cloud technologies.
Integration
* Integrate into theRun Infrastructure team,actively participating in daily operations and security initiatives.
* Collaborate with colleagues and partners to deliver secureinfrastructure and cloud services.
PROFILE:
Key Skills & Experience
* Minimum 5 years of experience in Microsoft server infrastructure with a strong focus on security.
* Proven expertise in vulnerability management, including assessment, remediation, and patch management across Windows Server, Azure, and Microsoft 365 environments.
* Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning tools in on-prem, cloud, and hybrid contexts.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft identity and infrastructure technologies:
* Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD), ADFS, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and server/client operating systems.
* Solid experience with Azure and Microsoft 365, including hybrid architectures.
* Ability to automate and secure environments using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Infrastructure as Code principles.
* Experience with security monitoring and SIEM tools, such as Azure Security Center, Microsoft Sentinel, and Log Analytics.
* Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and structured operational processes.
Certifications (Preferred)
* Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
* Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals
* Microsoft Certified: AzureSecurity Engineer Associate
* CompTIA Security+, CISSP,or equivalent
* ITIL Foundation
