Freelance Project: Technology Strategist

Role Overview
We are seeking a Technology Strategist to define, refine, and evolve the organization’s technology strategy and future roadmap. This role acts at enterprise level, aligning business priorities, architecture principles, and delivery execution. You will drive cross‑company governance, lead enterprise‑wide technology assessments, and ensure technology decisions are scalable, coherent, sustainable, and future‑ready.
This role requires strong architectural thinking, a deep understanding of modern technologies (cloud, AI, automation), and the ability to influence and align diverse senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
* Co‑create and evolve the technology strategy and long‑term roadmap in collaboration with senior leadership
* Intercept emerging technology trends and translate them into concrete priorities and opportunities
Governance & Alignment
* Facilitate technology governance processes across executive forums
* Drive alignment between business, enterprise architecture, and delivery teams
* Identify fragmentation risks in tooling, platforms, and architectural choices
Enterprise Assessments
* Lead large‑scale assessments across infrastructure, security, tooling, and application landscapes
* Establish and reinforce architectural guardrails and standards
* Support technology communities and promote enterprise‑wide adoption of shared practices
Influence & Transformation
* Act as a strategic advisor, shaping direction and accelerating transformation initiatives
* Communicate clearly with technical and executive audiences, building momentum for change
* Serve as a strong influencer in complex environments with competing priorities
Requirements & Qualifications
Background
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience
* At least 8+ years in strategy, enterprise architecture, digital transformation, or similar roles
* Certifications such as TOGAF, SAFe Architect, or comparable frameworks are a plus
Must‑Have Skills
* Deep experience in enterprise architecture or technology strategy
* Strong knowledge of cloud, automation, AI, and modern technology trends
* Proven experience leading enterprise‑level assessments
* Excellent stakeholder management and influencing abilities
* Strong communication skills for both executive and technical audiences
* Ability to lead governance processes and drive adoption of standards
* High resilience, confident decision‑making, and the ability to set strategic direction
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
* Experience in large, complex enterprise environments (e.g., telecom, utilities, financial services)
* Familiarity with enterprise architecture tools (LeanIX or similar)
* Knowledge of governance frameworks
* Experience working with distributed or offshore teams
* Dutch language skills
