As Cyclotron Technician, you will ensure safe and efficient production of radioisotopes (Fluor, Gallium, Zirconium and Copper) according to production schedule and minimizing downtime. Your responsibilities will include operating the cyclotrons, performing first-line maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment issues. The role requires strict adherence to safety and compliance standards, accurate documentation of operations, and proactive inventory management. Additional duties may include supporting cyclotron operations and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
Cyclotron Operation and Maintenance: Operate cyclotrons and perform routine first-line maintenance, calibration, and repair tasks on cyclotron equipment and related electromechanical systems (e.g., vacuum, RF, magnet, target systems, and software).
Production Schedule Support: Collaborate with team members to ensure the cyclotron is operational and production-ready according to schedule. Respond to urgent equipment failures and coordinate with field service personnel as necessary.
Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety & quality procedures and equipment operation guidelines. Safely handle ionizing radiation sources, pneumatics, gases, and hydraulic systems.
Inventory and Supplies Management: Manage in-house spare parts and coordinate with vendors to maintain an adequate inventory, maximizing equipment uptime and production efficiency.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Assist team members in promptly identifying and resolving cyclotron operational issues, including targetry problems, to minimize production downtime.
Documentation and Reporting: Accurately record daily operations, system parameters, calibration, and maintenance tasks in electronic records and logbooks, ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance.
Continuous Improvement and Team Engagement: Participate actively in team meetings and work groups to address issues, synchronize activities, and stay informed of new developments, policies, and regulatory changes.
Team Collaboration and Flexibility: Work constructively and adaptively within the team environment.
Availability for Flexible Hours: Willing and able to work outside regular hours when required.
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support team objectives and production facility operations.
Education And Experience
Undergraduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent relevant experience.
3+ years of hands-on experience in technical roles (e.g. maintenance or production technician) within highly regulated industry.
Demonstrated understanding of infrastructure systems and equipment (e.g. HVAC, electricity, instrumentation, plumbing/piping).
Prior experience in operating cyclotrons is a strong plus (GE Pettrace and/or IBAKiube).
Familiarity with regulations specific to handling radioactive materials is a plus.
Awareness of cGMP practices and procedures is a plus.
