For our client, we are looking for a Category Director passionate about the food retail sector, capable of defining a global strategic vision for their category and translating it into actionable, sustainable plans. This key role combines strategic leadership, performance management, high-level negotiation, and team leadership.
Responsibilities
• Define, drive, and deploy the overall category strategy in close collaboration with the executive team.
• Lead the construction and evolution of the assortment to maximize customer value, competitiveness, and economic performance.
• Oversee the development of sales plans, category roadmaps, and promotional calendars in coordination with internal teams.
• Lead strategic negotiations with key supplier partners and define sourcing directions for medium and long term.
• Define and accelerate the private label strategy, supervising major product developments and launches.
• Ensure alignment of category strategies with the company's overall vision, financial objectives, and brand positioning.
• Manage, structure, and develop a team of managers and experts (approximately 3 direct reports), fostering performance, engagement, and skill development.
• Monitor overall category performance (sales, margin, market share) and implement optimization plans for medium and long term.
Profile
• Master's degree with proven experience (+/- 7 years) in Category Management, Purchasing/Procurement/KAM, or equivalent retail functions.
• FR/NL/EN, depending on profile.
• Strong skills in strategic leadership, financial analysis, complex negotiation, and cross-functional communication.
• Demonstrated leadership, with the ability to influence and unite senior teams and drive transformation.
• Strong business and customer orientation, combined with long-term vision, high results focus, and resilience under pressure.
