About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Industrial Automation Engineer with proven experience in the food and beverage manufacturing sector. This role involves supporting automation projects from concept to commissioning, optimizing production processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to design, program, and implement automation solutions that improve efficiency, consistency, and safety in manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.)
* Integrate and configure sensors, actuators, conveyors, and robotics for food-grade environments
* Perform on-site or remote commissioning, testing, and validation of automation systems
* Analyze process flows and implement automation improvements to increase OEE and reduce downtime
* Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations
* Provide technical support and documentation throughout project lifecycle
Requirements:
* Proven experience in industrial automation within the food and beverage industry
* Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley RSLogix, etc.)
* Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms (Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC, etc.)
* Familiarity with hygienic design and sanitary process standards
* Ability to read and interpret electrical and process schematics
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
* Availability for site visits (as required)
Nice to Have:
* Experience with Industry 4.0, IIoT integration, or MES systems
* Electrical or Controls Engineering degree
* Experience working with CIP/SIP systems or pasteurization processes
