QUALITY ENGINEER - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
Job Description
We are recruiting a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and compliance of our electronic products. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining quality processes across the full product lifecycle, from new product introduction and supplier qualification to manufacturing, testing, and field performance.
You will work closely with design engineers, production teams, and suppliers to identify risks early, prevent defects, and deliver robust, high-performing products that meet customer expectations and industry standards.
The ideal candidate brings both technical expertise in electronics and a strong background in quality systems. You will act as a key driver of continuous improvement initiatives, implementing standards, conducting audits, analyzing failures, and leading corrective and preventive actions.
Your role will also include supporting validation and reliability testing, training colleagues on quality best practices, and helping the organization maintain compliance with international quality standards such as ISO 9001, IPC, and related certifications. This is a hands-on position that requires problem-solving skills, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive approach to ensuring excellence in every product we deliver.
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes for electronic components and finished products.
* Define inspection standards, test methods, and quality metrics to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements.
* Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for product and process issues.
* Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality concerns throughout the product lifecycle.
* Perform supplier quality audits, oversee incoming material inspections, and drive supplier corrective actions.
* Support product validation, reliability testing, and environmental stress screening (HALT, HASS, thermal cycling, vibration, etc.).
* Review and approve engineering change requests (ECRs) from a quality perspective.
* Maintain quality system documentation, inspection reports, and compliance records.
* Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality methodologies.
* Provide training and guidance on quality standards and practices.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field.
* 3+ years of experience in quality engineering for electronics or related industry.
* Strong knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001, IPC-A-610, J-STD, ANSI/ESD, etc.).
* Experience with failure analysis, reliability testing, and root cause techniques.
* Proficiency with statistical tools (SPC, DOE, FMEA, control plans).
* Hands-on experience with electronic measurement instruments and test equipment.
* Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
* Six Sigma Green, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or similar certification.
* Experience in industries with strict compliance standards (automotive, aerospace, or medical devices).
* Knowledge of PCB assembly processes, SMT, and electronic manufacturing technologies.
* Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
