As Freelance Data Steward for our client, you will play a key role in ensuring data consistency, quality, and governance within your assigned data domain. You will act as the bridge between business and IT, translating complex data concepts into clear structures and actionable insights. From building and maintaining business glossaries to defining data quality rules and supporting reporting needs, you will help shape a strong data-driven culture across the organization.
Your job
* Develop and maintain a business glossary for your assigned data domain, ensuring consistent use of terminology across stakeholders.
* Define, document, and proactively monitor data quality rules and data lineage
* Collaborate with Domain Managers to identify key terms and concepts, ensuring consistency and accuracy
* Translate these concepts into clear definitions and implement monitoring rules via reporting tools such as Power BI
* Support the launch of new products by defining business glossaries together with Product Leads
* Map reporting requirements, define controls, and support implementation and validation with Product Owners
* Contribute to building a data competence centre by documenting operational and technical knowledge
* Support operational teams with data-related topics and ad hoc activities
* Define, monitor, and improve KPIs related to data governance and data quality
* Identify root causes of data issues and propose both short-term fixes and long-term solutions
* Collaborate closely with business and IT teams to implement and follow up on improvements
* Act as the main point of contact for all data-related questions within your domain
* Promote data governance best practices and contribute to a data-driven culture
* Support the migration to a new data quality application
* Work primarily within data domains such as metering and tariff settlement
You have
* At least 2 years of experience in a data-related role (Data Steward, Data Analyst, or similar)
* Strong understanding of data governance and data quality principles
* Experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, or similar analytical tools
* Experience with metering data or tariff-related domains is a plus
* Fluency in English, with good knowledge of Dutch and/or French
* You are comfortable working in cross-functional environments bridging business and IT
