Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Event & Project Intern to assist in the development, coordination, and delivery of ESSO activities including educational programmes and projects and the annual scientific congress. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact educational & scientific initiatives, work closely with key stakeholders, and gain hands-on experience in medical education and event coordination. Key Responsibilities: Support Educational Programme Coordination and Execution: Assist in the logistical and operational organisation of educational events, both in-person and virtual. This includes handling registrations and payments, liaising with participants, submitting applications for events’ accreditation and compliance clearance, publishing events on the ESSO website, preparing materials, and supporting event technology platforms (e.g. Zoom). Manage Applications for ESSO Educational grants, Accreditation & Training Programmes: Oversee the full application cycle, including application intake, communication with applicants, preparation of reports, and follow-up with the relevant review committees and host institutions. Assist with Scientific Congress Planning, Coordination and Execution: Support the development and maintenance of the congress programme, track and update confirmed speakers in the event planning system, assist with speaker outreach, including invitations, confirmations, and follow-up communication, coordinate speaker logistics, process participant registrations and maintain accurate attendee records, respond to inquiries from prospective participants, speakers, and partners. Data Collection and Evaluation: Collect, organise and analyse feedback from event participants, create summaries, infographics, and presentations that highlight key findings to identify areas of improvement. Administrative Support: Contribute to general administrative and events' support tasks as needed. Educational Background: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a degree programme in Education, Management & Organisation, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. Desired skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with an ability to tailor messages for different audiences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of WordPress is a plus. Basic understanding of event planning and logistics; previous experience with event coordination is a plus. Experience with e-learning platforms or virtual event tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams) is a plus. Personal Attributes: Highly organised and detail-oriented. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment. A proactive team player with excellent problem-solving skills. Interest in medical education, healthcare, and surgical oncology. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with professionals from diverse backgrounds.
