About the Role
We are seeking an Advanced BI Analyst (Freelance) to join our client's team in Brussels for a 12-month mission. This is a pivotal opportunity to bridge business needs with data-driven insights, shaping the future of BI in the energy and retail sectors. You'll be at the heart of transforming complex business requirements into actionable analytics, driving real impact for a leading organization.

This role is critical in supporting data governance, optimizing performance, and enabling the business to thrive in a competitive market.
What You'll Be Doing
* Collaborating with business stakeholders and your team to understand, challenge, and document BI/reporting needs
* Translating business requirements into analytical specifications and data models
* Designing and building relationships between tables (dimensions, facts) and creating calculated columns using DAX
* Developing interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI, leveraging advanced features such as slicers, filters, and drill-through
* Working closely with data engineers, architects, and BI teams to understand upstream data models (including Databricks and modern tech stacks)
* Supporting data governance and quality initiatives by ensuring comprehensive documentation of reports and dashboards
* Optimizing developments for performance, cost, scalability, and usability
* Defining and documenting KPIs, calculation rules, and business logic
* Managing small enhancements and bug fixes to ensure continuous improvement
Technical Skills
* Advanced expertise in Power BI (5–8 years)
* Strong experience with dimensional modeling and star schema design
* Proficiency in DAX for calculated columns and advanced analytics
* Solid understanding of data modeling in modern technology stacks (Databricks, etc.)
* Experience in the retail and/or power and gas markets is highly valued
Language Proficiency
* Fluency in English (required)
* Professional proficiency in French and/or Dutch (required)
Other Requirements
* Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in BI analysis and dashboard/report creation
* Strong ownership mindset with a focus on outcomes and impact
* Proven ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and communicate complex ideas clearly
* Experience supporting data governance and quality initiatives
* Ability to work full-time on-site in Brussels, with potential for contract renewal (up to 3 years total)
* Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus
