Recruitment and selection agency Hays is looking for a Real Estate Accountant for one of its clients active in the real estate sector. Our client is an international company managing a large European real estate portfolio and employing several hundred professionals across multiple countries. Your new role
As Real Estate Accountant you will play an important role in the accounting and reporting activities related to real estate projects across Europe. You will support the follow up of construction, renovation and maintenance projects, working closely with internal stakeholders such as development teams, local accounting teams and operations.
Your responsibilities include:
* Monitoring commitments and expenditures related to real estate projects, ensuring accurate and timely accounting
* Assisting with invoice processing: follow up, review of allocations, and ensuring correct application of VAT and legal entity details
* Providing support during monthly and quarterly closings, including reconciliations, depreciation and capitalization processes
* Preparing financial information for project reporting and budgets
* Collaborating with internal teams on audits, tax-related documentation and various ad hoc assignments
* Contributing to process improvements and system optimization within the finance department
This position requires both analytical thinking and strong communication skills, as you will regularly interact with colleagues across multiple European locations.
Your profile
For this Real Estate Accountant role we are looking for someone with:
* A bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance or economics, or equivalent experience
* At least 3 years of experience in accounting
* A professional background in the services or retail sector, which is essential for this position
* Fluency in English, both spoken and written
* Strong SAP knowledge, as this is a key tool used daily
* Solid Excel skills and an interest in working with multiple IT systems
* A proactive mindset, attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities in a structured manner
* Team spirit and willingness to collaborate with colleagues across different departments and countries
Experience in a real estate environment or working with IFRS/local GAAP is considered a plus.
