Field Service Engineer
Veolia’s Water Technology Business seeks a Field Service Engineer to provide professional services in the water treatment industry. The role involves frequent travel to serve customer sites regionally and beyond.
Job Responsibilities
* Perform operation and maintenance activities on industrial water treatment plants under service contracts.
* Commission, de‑commission, operate and maintain Veolia mobile water treatment units installed temporarily on customer sites.
* Provide technical advice on operation and maintenance of customer water treatment plants.
* Identify, analyze and implement process or service related improvements.
* Ensure EHS compliance.
* Execute equipment start‑up and commissioning.
* Conduct site surveys and audits.
* Manage repair, maintenance and warranty cases.
* Communicate with customers in written and verbal form.
* Prepare customer service reports and process data.
* Perform minor piping and electrical assembly work as required.
* Operate at BOO or mobile sites when necessary.
* Participate in construction projects: design reviews, site reviews, etc.
* Support costing of proposals and contracts.
* Provide first‑line troubleshooting.
* Deliver technical training.
* Supervise contractors or subcontractors when required.
* Participate in piloting and field trials when required.
* Perform call‑out duty as prescribed by the BNL team schedules.
* Attend local team meetings to share best practices.
* Focus on continuous improvement of processes, practices and contracts.
* Demonstrate safe attitudes and operations in line with company EHS policy, customer policy, and local regulations.
* Demonstrate compliance with company ethics policy.
Required Qualifications
* Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical engineering background (Bachelor or Master).
* Certifications in VCA Vol. or BA4 are a plus.
Preferred Skills
* Service mentality with strong customer focus.
* Ability to take ownership of a service project.
* Good communication and negotiation skills; diplomacy.
* Preferable five years of water treatment expertise (e.g., RO, UF, MBR, EDR, Mixed Bed) and related equipment and technology.
* Proficiency in Dutch or French and English, all written and spoken.
* Contract management skills enabling basic understanding of contractual obligations between customer and Veolia.
* Computer literacy including knowledge of PLC‑based control systems.
* Valid driver’s licence.
