The Faculty of Arts is seeking a junior web developer with an interest in digital infrastructure administration to support the activities of the CLARIAH‑VL+ research infrastructure. This includes contributing to the redesign and ongoing management of the infrastructure’s web presence and setting up and maintaining a server environment for hosting key Digital Humanities (DH) software (e.g., Nodegoat, eScriptorium, Madoc).
Here is a brief overview of the project:
* CLARIAH‑VL+ is a strategic research infrastructure project funded by the Flemish Research Foundation (FWO) that focuses on boosting research in the Humanities and Social Sciences using digital tools and services.
* The infrastructure aims to create an accessible cloud platform for researchers and foster collaborations across Europe.
* It unifies disciplines that use a wide range of sources, from ancient manuscripts to modern digital data.
You will work on the redesign and implementation of the central website to give visibility to the developed tools and ensure broad dissemination of technical information. You will collaborate closely with the communication coordinator, central coordination, CLARIAH‑VL+ partners, and KU Leuven infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Discuss the design of the CLARIAH‑VL+ website with relevant partners and central management (GhentCDH).
* Restructure the website and be responsible for the description of technical tools.
* Manage the information inflow with the team in charge of communication.
* Set up instances of open, collaborative software for the humanities, such as MADOC, Nodegoat, eScriptorium, in collaboration with CLARIAH‑VL+ partners.
* Coordinate with the ICTS of the Faculty of Arts to ensure the sustainability of the infrastructure.
* Provide and manage access for individual and group users.
* Support tool usage (sharing documentation, responding to technical questions, etc.).
Profile
* A Bachelor in Informatics, Digital Design or Development, or a Master in Digital Humanities, Media Studies, or an equivalent degree or experience.
* Affinity with web design and user experience.
* Experience or interest in user feedback and testing.
* Experience or interest in working in collaborative, interdisciplinary settings.
* Excellent command of English.
* Proficiency in Dutch is a plus.
Offer
* A half‑time position for 2 years, remuneration based on experience and seniority, in accordance with KU Leuven scales for research staff.
* Collaboration with national and international partners such as GhentCDH and Nodegoat developers.
* Possibility to develop solid web design and infrastructure skills.
