Team description
The Vehicle Production Engineering (VPE) Division supports the introduction of new vehicle models into Toyota’s European manufacturing plants.
Within VPE, the Body Assembly Department leads development activities such as:
1. New vehicle planning
2. Design for manufacture
3. Production line set-up
4. Introduction of tooling and equipment for mass production
Your responsibilities
As an Engineer in Body Assembly, you will help shape the future of mobility by preparing new vehicle and production concepts for mass production. In this role, you will:
5. Translate vehicle style and design expectations into practical, high-quality, and scalable manufacturing concepts.
6. Assess design data against Toyota’s manufacturing standards, identifying impacts on production processes.
7. Collaborate with Production and Equipment teams to evaluate process feasibility and propose improvements that balance Safety, Quality, Cost, Investment, and Productivity.
8. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization through benchmarking and analysis of best practices.
9. Lead process improvements and equipment design using 3D models, simulation tools, 2D drawings, and BOMs.
10. Explore and introduce innovative manufacturing technologies—including digital tools, automation, and virtual reality applications—to improve workflows and support Toyota’s vision of the factory of the future.
Your Profile
We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. You may be a good fit if you bring:
11. An engineering background (or equivalent experience), ideally with exposure to vehicle manufacturing.
12. Knowledge of Body Assembly (Welding) processes is a plus but not required.
13. Experience with CATIA V5, AutoCAD, Process Simulate (PSR), or similar tools.
14. Strong Microsoft Excel skills: familiarity with Power Automate or Power BI for automation and data analysis is an advantage.
15. Ability to manage technical data effectively (3D data, drawings, and records).
16. Fluency in English; knowledge of Japanese is a plus.
17. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
18. Ability to work both independently and as part of a multicultural team.
19. A proactive, hands-on approach with curiosity for new technologies and continuous improvement.
20. Willingness to travel within Europe and occasionally to Japan.
21. Openness to occasional weekend work at manufacturing plants (outside Belgium) to support key project milestones.
