About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer with strong experience in Autodesk Inventor to support the design and development of custom machinery and automation equipment for industrial clients across Belgium.
This is a project-based freelance role ideal for someone passionate about mechanical engineering and precision machine design who can work independently while collaborating closely with engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Design 3D models and detailed 2D drawings for custom machines and components using Autodesk Inventor.
* Develop concept designs, detailed manufacturing drawings, and assembly documentation.
* Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure smooth project execution.
* Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and performance.
* Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback to ensure quality standards are met.
* Support prototype testing and troubleshooting when required.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in machine building or automation equipment.
* Expertise in Autodesk Inventor (3D modeling, assemblies, simulations).
* Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
* Ability to work independently and manage project deadlines effectively.
* Familiarity with European machinery safety standards (CE marking) is an advantage.
* Proficiency in English; knowledge of Dutch or French is a plus.
