The position is based at Avanos' office in Belgium and is part of the Ethics & Compliance Department. The position will report directly to the Head of Compliance and Legal EMEA & LATAM. This position is responsible for supporting implementation and maintenance of the Corporate Compliance Program in Europe, as well as the legal needs for the European region, including but not limited to drafting agreements and providing legal advice to internal customers.
Job Position Accountabilities/Expectations
* Ethics & Compliance Responsibilities (EMEA & LATAM):
o Assist the Ethics & Compliance Department in policy and process drafting and management, compliance communication, training internal teams and external partners, as well as auditing and in-region compliance monitoring, particularly regarding compliance with laws and MedTech regional industry regulations applicable to a US-based multinational medical device company.
o Maintain the matrix of MedTech compliance requirements specific to the regions (Sunshine laws and regulations) and assist colleagues in understanding and implementing their requirements.
o Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and projects as compliance expert.
o Contribute to compliance with privacy laws, including the GDPR.
o Perform other tasks necessary for the advancement of the goals of the Ethics & Compliance Department and Avanos corporation generally.
* Legal Responsibilities:
o Draft and negotiate country-specific and cross-border commercial agreements such as NDAs, sales, distribution, service, and purchasing agreements, agreements for cooperation with healthcare professionals, organizations and patients.
o Participate in review of marketing materials, and especially materials that contain product claims, for legal compliance.
o Research and advise on various ad hoc legal matters.
o Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and projects as legal expert.
o Provide such other legal services as may be required for a publicly-traded, global medical device company.

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skill Required
Required Qualifications:
* J.D. degree (or equivalent law degree in the applicable jurisdiction, which would allow the practice of law throughout Europe).
Experience:
* A minimum of three years of experience practicing as a lawyer at a law firm or in-house, with an emphasis on healthcare and regulatory compliance in the medical device or pharmaceutical industries and commercial transactions.
* English language fluency required. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese preferred.
* Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
* Good organizational and time management skills, willingness to learn and develop in the medical device industry.
Physical Demands (Optional)
* International business travel may be required (approximately 10-20% of the time)
