We are seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Business Analyst to support a major national infrastructure operator and one of Europe’s largest ports in a long-term digitalisation initiative. The programme focuses on improving the efficiency, transparency, and coordination of rail movements within the port area, supporting better operational planning and increased rail utilisation.

Key Responsibilities Gather, analyse, and document business requirements for new functionalities and process enhancements across the rail–port logistics chain. Map, model, and optimise complex operational workflows using UML or BPMN. Produce clear and structured user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria. Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and programme leadership to ensure high-quality functional alignment. Work directly with operational stakeholders—including rail operators, terminal teams, and port authorities—to validate needs and refine processes. Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to backlog refinement and iterative delivery. Design and execute functional test scenarios and support validation during releases. Contribute to the programme’s strategic objective of increasing rail capacity usage and operational transparency within the port ecosystem.
Ideal Candidate 10+ years
of experience as a Business Analyst in complex, multi-stakeholder ICT environments. Strong skills in requirements gathering, business process modelling (UML, BPMN), and creating user stories. Demonstrated ability to analyse and translate logistics or operational workflows into scalable digital solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, comfortable working with operational teams, technical squads, and management-level stakeholders. Structured, proactive, and capable of working independently while integrating effectively within hybrid, cross-organisation teams.
Desirable Experience in logistics, multimodal transport, rail operations, or port environments. Background working in long-running Agile/Scrum product teams. Ability to create user guides, work instructions, and high-quality functional documentation.
