About the Role We’re seeking a Consultant SAP BusinessObjects (Freelance) to join our client’s Business Intelligence team for a 7-month mission in Brussels. Your expertise will be pivotal in designing, developing, and optimizing data integration and reporting solutions that power critical public services. The stakes are high: your work will ensure data integrity, performance, and actionable insights for administrations and institutions, directly influencing the efficiency and quality of public service delivery. What You’ll Be Doing Analyze diverse data sources (DB2 LUW, DB2 UDB, SQL Server, flat files, CSV) to design and develop ETL flows using SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS). Build, optimize, and maintain jobs, workflows, and dataflows, ensuring robust mapping, transformation, and error management. Implement industrialization best practices: parameterization, logging, incident recovery, and comprehensive technical documentation. Model and populate staging, ODS, and datamart structures; develop complex SQL queries, views, functions, and stored procedures as needed. Analyze and optimize SQL performance in relation to BODS processing. Design and maintain SAP BusinessObjects universes using Information Design Tool (IDT), focusing on semantic modeling, joins, contexts, and calculated objects. Optimize universes for efficient, robust use in SAP Web Intelligence (WebI). Design, evolve, and support SAP Web Intelligence reports, including queries, variables, formulas, and formatting. Assist business users in data understanding and results interpretation; provide support and corrections for existing reports. Work across Development, Acceptance, and Production environments, participating in transport and deployment processes for ETL, universes, and reports. Ensure compliance with BI governance, security, and traceability standards. Document delivered solutions and transfer knowledge to internal teams. What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer, with a strong track record in SAP BusinessObjects environments. Expertise in ETL and data integration using SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS). Advanced SQL development skills, including data modeling, complex queries, and performance optimization. Hands-on experience with SAP BusinessObjects Universe design (IDT) and SAP Web Intelligence (WebI) reporting. Solid understanding of environment management and release management in BI contexts. Ability to work autonomously, take ownership, and deliver impactful solutions in a multi-source, multi-environment setting. Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and a drive for continuous improvement. Experience in documenting solutions and transferring knowledge to teams.
