We are looking for an Process Project Close-Out & Startup Engineer who is who is proactive, rigorous, and a strong team player to join us as a freelance in Braine-l'Alleud, Belgium.
About the Role
As a freelance Process Project Close-Out & Startup Engineer, you will collaborate with engineering contractors, local users, maintenance teams, and project stakeholders in a dynamic, innovative, and supportive environment. You are going to be the technical reference for process equipment during this critical project phase.
What you will do
1. You will coordinate and plan all technical activities for process equipment close-out and startup.
2. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions with engineering partners.
3. You will manage the technical readiness for water runs, mock-up batches, and handover to users and maintenance.
4. You will review, update, and approve technical documentation, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
5. You will organize and deliver user training, and support the efficient handover process.
6. You will ensure strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.
Interested? For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills
7. You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
8. You bring at least 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical companies and engineering offices, especially during project handover phases.
9. You demonstrate strong technical expertise in process equipment, single-use systems, and regulated environments (biologicals/pharma).
10. You are skilled in interpreting P&ID and PFD diagrams, and have experience with qualification & validation (ASTM E2500).
11. You communicate fluently with diverse stakeholders and thrive in both formal and informal leadership roles.
12. You are accountable, pragmatic, proactive, and fully act on your own initiative to solve issues.
