Internship Position
The AIDEFSPACE project is a pioneering initiative focused on harnessing Artificial Intelligence to safeguard telecommunications and satellite positioning systems from the disruptive effects of space weather events. Spanning four years, this project presents a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of space technology.
As an intern, your primary focus will be on integrating AI models into applications specifically designed to address the challenges posed by space weather. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the precision and efficacy of our defence mechanisms against space weather interference.
The candidate will mainly report to the Control & Data Centres (CDC) Lead.
* Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
* Duration: A minimum of 3 months
* Start date: Quarter 2, 2025.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Collaborate with our Team to gather and preprocess data necessary for training AI models
* Fine-tune machine learning algorithms for ionosphere modeling and space weather prediction
* Integrate trained models into applications designed to analyse and mitigate the impact of space weather on telecommunications and satellite systems
* Assist in the deployment and testing of these applications in real-world scenarios.
Skills and Experience
* Currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, along with experience in data preprocessing and manipulation.
* Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data visualization tools.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for space technology and its applications.
* Good written and spoken English.
