As we continue to grow, our Grids & Accessories Business Unit in Wijnegem (Belgium) is looking for an Industrial Project Design Engineer to help shape the ceiling suspension systems of tomorrow.
Your Role
The Industrial Project Design Engineer will report to the Head of R&D and Product Management and will be responsible for designing various metallic suspension systems, improving current ceiling systems, and preparing designs for future solutions.
In this role, you will:
1. Lead and manage projects from early ideation to mass production.
2. Translate user needs into technically feasible and production-ready designs.
3. Prototype, test, and iterate concepts together with internal and external stakeholders.
4. Select appropriate materials and processes, focusing on durability and circularity.
5. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to balance design, function, and cost.
6. Maintain and co-own all 2D and 3D product documentation with our second Project Design Engineer.
7. Apply your knowledge of metal forming techniques and materials expertise to develop innovative metal components.
8. Leverage your network in the metal industry, including third-party and prototyping suppliers, to support project execution.
9. Generate creative solutions and conceptual designs for metal components, using your strong drawing and sketching skills to communicate ideas effectively.
What You Bring
10. Master’s degree in industrial design, mechanical engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial design, project engineering, or technical design, ideally with metal forming or roll forming expertise.
11. In-depth knowledge of metal forming techniques and strong technical/mechanical process or materials background in metals.
12. Established network within the metal industry, including third-party and prototyping suppliers.
13. Proven ability in idea generation and creative problem-solving for metal components, with strong drawing and sketching skills.
14. High proficiency in 2D and 3D design tools, such as SolidWorks, Composer, and Adobe Creative Suite.
15. Strong sense of industrial design, attention to detail, and high standards for quality.
16. Excellent communication and visualization skills, proactive and well-organized, with solid command of English (Dutch is a plus).
