HQ Chief Operating Officer (Hong Kong / China)
Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership & Business Development: develop and execute the company's long‑term strategy for Brazil, focusing on China‑Brazil bilateral trade and future mining investments.
* Operations Management: oversee day‑to‑day mining and processing operations, including exploration, extraction, logistics, and supply chain, ensuring efficient, safe, and sustainable production while meeting production targets and cost controls.
* International Trading & Commercial Responsibilities: negotiate contracts, optimize pricing, logistics, and supply chain for key commodities; manage trade risks (currency, tariffs, compliance).
* Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: ensure full compliance with Brazilian export regulations, mining laws (ANM, MME, IBAMA), food safety standards (frozen meat), ESG requirements, anti‑corruption laws and international trade rules.
* Financial & Risk Management: oversee budgeting, financial performance, and risk mitigation (environmental, operational, geopolitical); report to headquarters on Brazil's P&L, forecasts, and key metrics.
* Team Leadership: lead local management team (operations, finance, legal, HR, sustainability); foster a safety‑first culture, drive talent development, and ensure alignment with global standards.
Requirements
* Extensive experience (10+ years) in China and South America trading industry; mining industry experience is an advantage.
* Outstanding China‑Brazil trade networks, mining/frozen meat/agricultural product trade experience, or investment/project development capabilities.
* Experience in stakeholder engagement, government relations, and navigating regulatory approvals in Brazil.
* Leadership experience as Country Director, General Manager, or similar senior role in mining/trading in Brazil or emerging markets.
* Resilience for travel to remote mine sites and international business trips.
* Proficiency in written and spoken English (fluent/business level required for global reporting and negotiations).
* Knowledge of Mandarin is essential.
* Proficiency in Portuguese is highly advantageous.
