FibriCheck is a pioneering medtech company developing certified Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) solutions for the detection and monitoring of heart rhythm disorders. We are a passionate, 22-person team with an established, life-saving product and a clear roadmap for growth. We’re seeking a hands-on Head of Engineering who is a natural driver, someone who proactively pushes projects forward and pulls people together to make things happen. We’re not looking for a manager who waits for instructions; we need someone who thrives in taking ownership and acts as the engine for our technical organization. Crucially, you know how to adapt your approach to the specific size and growth phase of our company.
You understand the unique challenges of a medtech scale-up, knowing when to be pragmatic and scrappy versus when to build robust, scalable systems for the future. Reporting to the CEO as a key member of the management team, you will own the entire engineering organization. Your mission is to be the driving force that unites our engineering and AI teams, executes our technical roadmap, and delivers high-quality, compliant software with excellence and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Technical Leadership
* Own and manage the technical roadmap, strategically balancing the development of new product features with essential technical improvements and platform stability.
* Take full responsibility, both strategically and operationally, for the entire engineering organization (development and AI).
* Oversee technical infrastructure decisions and architecture governance, ensuring our systems are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
1. Team Management & Culture
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of 7 engineers and 2 AI specialists, handling everything from performance reviews to career development and hiring.
* Act as a hands-on, operational leader, working closely with the team to solve problems and remove roadblocks.
* Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture and improve how the data science and technical teams work together to achieve unified goals.
1. Process & Delivery Excellence
* Manage and improve development processes, including how we use tools like JIRA, Matrix, and our CI/CD pipelines to increase efficiency and quality.
* Drive the agile/scrum process, leading sprint planning, owning delivery accountability, and ensuring commitments are met.
* Be the driving force pushing projects to completion, managing larger technical initiatives and epics that span multiple sprints or teams.
* Ensure all development activities comply with medical device regulations (ISO 13485, FDA, CE).
1. Stakeholder & Project Management
* Partner closely with Product Management, Sales, and other internal stakeholders to align the roadmap and ensure feasibility.
* Work directly with customers and partners on projects that involve a technical component, acting as the project manager to ensure success.
* Serve as the primary technical voice in the management team, reporting progress, challenges, and opportunities directly to the CEO.
Who are we looking for?
Experience & Skills
* 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, with a background in hands-on software development.
* Proven experience managing the full lifecycle of IT projects and technical initiatives.
* Expertise in agile/scrum methodologies and hands-on sprint management.
* Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and DevOps practices.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience in customer-facing technical roles.
* (Preferred) Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., medtech, pharma) and familiarity with standards like ISO 13485.
* (Preferred) Familiarity with AI/ML development processes.
