Job DescriptionGIS developers typically work as part of a team of software developers to develop GIS applications and tools and maintain software programs to support the needs of the company and/or clients. Additional tasks may include analyzing land and aerial imagery or using databases to create specialized maps such as weather, seismic or population-based maps.Responsibilities:1. Design and construction of Geographical Information Systems2. Technical assistance for the use of GIS software3. Implementation of geospatial analysis tools.4. Prototyping5. Elaboration of test programs6. Integration with other applications7. Writing of technical documentation8. Assistance with deployment and configuration of the system9. Assist with evaluating and testing products delivered by other teams to ensure that they conform to the requirements and methodology.10. Participation in meetings with the project teams.QualificationsKnowledge and skills:1. In depth knowledge of GIS software and tools2. In-depth knowledge of relational database systems3. In depth knowledge of SQL4. Good knowledge of geospatial data analysis5. Good knowledge of programming languages6. Good knowledge of the design and development of web and multi-tier web applications7. Good knowledge of modelling tools (e.G. UML)8. Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application developments9. Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, ease of communication.10. Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team.Obligatory requirements:1. Working level of English and / Or French2.
