About the Role
This role is responsible for driving international business development activity across Western Europe. The successful candidate will identify and qualify new opportunities, assess their viability, and support capture activities across the Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) portfolio.
The position requires close management of customer relationships across the region, alongside shaping and aligning both regional and global strategies. You will also contribute to the development of country-specific and regional growth plans, ensuring the sustainability of current programmes while identifying new avenues for expansion.
Working cross-functionally, you will collaborate with teams across the organisation, including Global Business Development, Programme Management, Operations, Finance, and other business areas.
Key Responsibilities
1. Identify, qualify and develop new business opportunities across Western Europe
2. Assess market opportunities and support capture activities across the RMS portfolio
3. Build and maintain strong relationships with international customers and stakeholders
4. Develop and implement country and regional business development plans
5. Support and help shape regional and global strategy
6. Coordinate activity across multiple internal functions and business areas
7. Align customer requirements with internal capabilities and programme delivery
Required skills, qualifications and experience
8. 10–15+ years’ experience in business development and/or operational roles
9. Fluent in English, with at least one additional European language preferred
10. Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required
11. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, competitive international environment
12. Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently
13. Technical and sector knowledge:
14. Strong understanding of combat weapon systems (including Aegis, Ballistic Missile Defence, and IAMD architectures, including Command & Control systems)
15. Knowledge of rotary wing capabilities and operational use
16. Understanding of Western European government structures and defence procurement processes
17. Familiarity with US military strategy and its role in the Western Europe region
Desirable Skills & Experience
18. Strong interpersonal skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders
19. Ability to build and sustain effective customer relationships (internal and external)
20. Commercial awareness, including financial planning and decision-making
21. Experience interpreting customer needs and translating them into strategic outcomes
22. Knowledge of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Direct Commercial Sales processes
23. Experience working with US Embassies, NATO, and regional defence organisations
24. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
25. Cultural awareness across Western Europe
26. Experience in the military rotary wing market
27. Strong presentation skills
