What you will do
As a Backup and Storage Solution Architect, you are responsible for defining and implementing a strategic vision for backup and storage solutions within our ICT environment. You will play a key role in mapping business and application needs to the appropriate storage and backup technologies, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. You collaborate closely with enterprise architects, IT operations, and business stakeholders to provide future-proof and cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Solution Architecture:.Design and optimize backup and storage architectures to align with business requirements.Assess current and future needs, ensuring storage and backup solutions are scalable and flexible.Standardize solution designs and document best practices.
2. Storage Management:Map application and business needs to the correct storage solutions.Manage and optimize existing storage systems (eg Dell Isilon (PowerScale) for central storage. & Dell PowerStore for critical applications)Evaluate and implement additional storage solutions as business needs evolve.Work with different types of storage (eg Block storage for high-performance applications, Object storage solutions for scalable and distributed data needs, Ceph and other software-defined storage solutions for flexibility and cost efficiency & Hybrid cloud storage solutions to optimize costs and scalability).Ensure performance, availability, and disaster recovery capabilities meet enterprise standards.
3. Backup & Recovery StrategyDevelop a comprehensive vision for backup and recovery strategies.Oversee the management and enhancement of the backup platform.Ensure backup policies align with business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.Evaluate and implement new backup solutions to meet evolving business demands.
4. Security & ComplianceEnsure storage and backup solutions adhere to security best practices and compliance standards.Implement robust data protection and encryption measures.Support audits and risk assessments related to data storage and backup.
5. Operational Support & OptimizationProvide expert guidance to IT operations teams in resolving complex storage and backup-related issues.Identify and drive automation opportunities to improve efficiency.Collaborate with vendors and external partners to optimize support and service levels.
6. Budget: Take ownership of the budget within the domain, ensuring cost-effective decisions while aligning investments with business priorities and technological advancements
7. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:Work with business stakeholders to understand data lifecycle and storage needs.Keep up to date with emerging technologies in storage and backup solutions.
8. Provide training and knowledge sharing to internal teams.

Who you are
9. Extensive experience in enterprise storage and backup architectures.
10. Strong knowledge of storage platforms such as Dell Isilon and Dell PowerStore.
11. Experience with backup solutions, particularly Rubrik, and disaster recovery strategies.
12. Understanding of hybrid storage strategies, including cloud-based storage solutions.
13. Expertise in data protection, security, and compliance standards.
14. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
15. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
