PRODUCT ENGINEER - WEST FLANDERS (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
We are looking for a highly motivated and technically skilled Product Engineer to join an engineering team focused on delivering robust and innovative products for the industrial sector.
This role is central to the successful integration of electronic functionality into complex, mechanically engineered systems used across demanding industrial environments such as manufacturing, automation, construction, and heavy machinery.
As a Product Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the coordination of external electronics design suppliers (including third-party design houses), ensuring the quality and consistency of electronic designs, and facilitating smooth collaboration with internal mechanical development teams.
Your goal will be to ensure that electronics components are designed, verified, and integrated efficiently and effectively into our products, meeting all technical, quality, and regulatory requirements.
You will act as the technical bridge between internal stakeholders and external partners - guiding development, driving design validation, and ensuring that all electronic systems align with product performance, reliability, and integration goals. This is a hands-on, cross-disciplinary role that requires both engineering depth and strong communication and project coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary liaison between the company and external electronics design partners.
* Define clear technical requirements, deliverables, and timelines for external development teams.
* Monitor supplier progress and provide technical feedback to ensure alignment with product goals.
* Conduct regular reviews and status updates to track development milestones and issue resolution.
* Review and critique circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and technical documentation from external suppliers.
* Ensure electronics designs meet electrical performance, mechanical integration, and environmental durability requirements.
* Lead internal validation efforts including functional testing, compliance review, and prototype evaluation.
* Work closely with internal mechanical engineers to ensure proper integration of electronics into product designs.
* Support design reviews, system-level architecture discussions, and technical troubleshooting.
* Provide input on trade-offs between mechanical and electrical design constraints.
* Verify that design outputs meet company quality standards, including regulatory compliance (e.g. CE, EMC, UL).
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation including specifications, test reports, and engineering change records.
* Support production teams with technical data for manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
* Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, embedded systems, and electronics hardware validation.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and layout files.
* Excellent communication, organization, and cross-functional coordination skills.
* Background in industrial products, automation equipment, or rugged environments.
* Exposure to systems involving sensors, motor control, or power electronics.
