Daikin Europe NV (DENV) is a subsidiary of Daikin Industries Limited, a Japanese outstanding company and worldwide the biggest developer, producer and supplier of HVAC-R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) solutions, including heating pumps and cooling technology.

DENV is Daikin’s sales, R&D, and production headquarters for Europe, the Middle-East and Africa. The headquarter has Belgian offices in Brussels, Ghent and Ostend, as well as 8 production plants, 24 sales subsidiaries and offices and a whole network of independent distributors and dealers across the EMEA region.

PRODUCT DEVELOPER ENGINEER

DEPARTMENT:

As EMEA Development Centre (EDC), we develop air-conditioning, heating, refrigeration and ventilation products as well as controls and IOT solutions are developed. These are produced in different factories located within and outside Europe. These products are put on the market through our various Daikin distributors and affiliates within Europe, Middle East and Africa.

ROLE:

Within our EMEA Development Centre, you will contribute to the development of heat pumps, refrigeration systems, and commercial air‑conditioning products. The focus is on defining system specifications, selecting key refrigerant components, develop unit control strategies, and validate performance through testing to ensure reliable and efficient product:

1. Define the thermodynamic design & product specifications in order to reach the required targets, while complying with relevant regulations and internal quality standards.

2. Learn control logic and make proposals for changes or new logic based on reliability test result analysis.

3. Determine which tests and evaluations the products must undergo and analyse the test results.

4. Based on your strong knowledge of thermodynamics, analyse the system performance and workout proposals to improve the product efficiency.

5. Determination/calculation of refrigerant components taking reliability, cost and unit constraints into account

6. Determine your own work-plan autonomously while taking the global planning within and outside EDC into account.

7. Share interim results with team and management and set up action plans to remove bottlenecks.

8. You have a central role to play within the organization. You can reflect on the impact on your actions on other departments such as Sales, Procurement, Quality and Production.

PROFILE:

9. You hold a Master of Science in Engineering, with a focus on thermodynamics or control engineering.

10. You combine technical expertise with initiative. You’re eager to contribute to product development and take ownership of your work.

11. You work well in a team and enjoy solving complex challenges. You’re motivated by technical requirements and customer-specific needs.

12. You have a genuine interest in HVACR technologies and are committed to contributing to sustainability goals, including the Green Deal.

13. You’re organized and proactive. You manage your time effectively, set priorities, and deliver on deadlines.

14. You communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written, in a professional and international context.

15. This vacancy is open to both recent graduates and candidates with experience.

16. A driver’s license is recommended, as collaboration between our Ghent and Ostend teams may require travel.
