Do you want to take a leadership role in accelerating environmental regeneration through cutting-edge biotech? Join a pioneering cleantech company that harnesses the extraordinary power of fungi to break down pollutants, restore ecosystems, and produce green chemicals.
Our client, a fast-growing and well-funded impact start-up, is on a mission to reduce the ecological footprint of industrial activities by turning waste into value — and they’re building a world-class team to do it.
About the role
To support the scale-up of their Bioremediation Unit, we’re looking for a Project Director / Senior Project Manager with strong technical and project leadership experience in environmental engineering. You will oversee the delivery and development of integrated bioremediation projects that combine metabolic digital twin models and fungal-based field applications — targeting persistent contaminants like TPH, HAP, PFAS in soil, sludge, and industrial water.
Your main responsibilities
* Lead R&D and commercial bioremediation projects from start to finish: client engagement, project design, planning, field implementation.
* Coordinate interdisciplinary teams across biology, data science, chemistry, and engineering.
* Scale technical capabilities in collaboration with internal teams (strain production, modelling, genomics).
* Drive strategy, innovation, and team development within the bioremediation unit.
Your profile
You hold a MSc or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, Bioengineering, or a related field, and bring over 5 years of experience in environmental consulting or engineering.
You have a proven track record in the design and implementation of remediation systems (both in-situ and ex-situ), combined with solid project management and team leadership skills. Fluent in both English and French, you communicate with ease across technical and operational teams.
We’re looking for a pragmatic and mission-driven leader with a hands-on mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for sustainability.
You know how to translate scientific expertise into real-world impact, guiding a growing team from fundamental R&D to large-scale, field-based bioremediation projects.
Your leadership style is empowering and collaborative, with a strong focus on mentoring, strategic foresight, and creating a culture of ownership, innovation, and purpose.
Why join?
* Be part of a purpose-driven cleantech venture with real environmental impact.
* Thrive in a collaborative, agile, and supportive team culture.
* Enjoy meaningful responsibilities and shape the future of nature-based innovation.
* Attractive salary package (€70k–€90k), benefits, bonus + equity (ESOP in development).
