About the role
Our client is a world leader in the convenience sector. In Belux, they have a network of 550 points of sale. The company is currently underdoing a major transformation phase to achieve their mission, which is " to make their customers’ lives a little easier every day ".
In this context, we are looking for a Head of Category Management who will report directly to the Market Development Director BELUX .
You will be the driving force behind a winning assortment, sharp pricing and promotional strategies, and flawless execution across Belgium and Luxembourg.
Your Responsibilities
Category leadership & team development
You manage a team of 4 Category Managers - motivating, coaching and supporting them while strengthening team dynamics.
You help build an ambitious, high‑performing and cost‑conscious team with strong commercial impact, creating smooth, execution‑focused collaboration that makes life easier for our sites and customers.
You support management in key strategic projects and ensure professional and consistent execution of business plans.
You collaborate closely with colleagues from Convenience Support and Marketing to maximize impact.
Managing & optimizing the Drinks category
You monitor market trends and competitors closely and build deep category expertise.
You define the optimal drinks assortment per segment and per country, inspired by market leaders and innovations.
You develop planograms and an effective pricing strategy for the category.
You are responsible for product launches within your category.
You drive category performance on revenue, margin, volume, traffic and market share.
You analyze and report category results, developing action plans to reinforce growth and profitability and to ensure budget targets are met.
You provide accurate and complete product information to keep the back‑office system fully up to date and ensure smooth communication to our sites.
Negotiations & promotion management for Drinks
You negotiate commercial and promotional activities and related budgets with beverage suppliers.
You develop the annual promotion plan for Drinks, tailored by segment and by country.
You maintain strong relationships with suppliers and distributors and ensure product availability.
You prepare and coordinate promotional plans with the relevant teams.
About the ideal candidate
Experience of at least 5+ years in category management in the FMCG or Food Retail sector. Experience with supplier negotiations is a strong asset.
People management: Solid experience in leading a team.
Skills: Strong analytical capabilities and proficiency with tools like Excel, PowerBI, etc.
Personality:

customer‑focused, commercial and acting with integrity,
entrepreneurial, autonomous and driven to continuously improve.
Languages: You are trilingual — Dutch, French and English.
