Overview:We're working with an innovative company in the transport and mobility sector, developing embedded systems that sit at the heart of safety-critical and performance-driven platforms. They're looking for a low-level Embedded Software Engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware and has strong experience in C and Embedded Linux environments.
This role is ideal for someone who likes solving problems at the system level, including boot, kernel, drivers, and performance, rather than application-layer software.
Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain low-level embedded software in CWork on Embedded Linux systems, including:Bootloaders (e.g. U-Boot)Linux Kernel configuration, customization, and debuggingBoard bring-up and hardware validationDevelop and maintain device drivers and BSPsDebug complex issues across hardware and software boundariesCollaborate closely with hardware, electronics, and systems teamsContribute to system performance, reliability, and long-term maintainabilitySupport integration and testing on real embedded targets
Required Experience & Skills:Strong experience with C in a low-level or embedded contextSolid background in Embedded LinuxHands-on experience with:BootloadersLinux Kernel (configuration, patching, debugging)Cross-compilation toolchainsComfortable working close to hardware, including memory, interrupts, and peripheralsExperience debugging using tools such as GDB, JTAG, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopesUnderstanding of embedded system constraints such as real-time behavior, performance, and memory limitations
Nice to Have:Experience in the transport, automotive, rail, or mobility sectorsFamiliarity with Yocto or BuildrootKnowledge of real-time Linux or RTOS conceptsExperience with CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UARTExposure to safety-critical or regulated environments such as ISO 26262 or EN standards
