What You’ll Do
As part of the MSC Group Maritime Policy and Government Affairs team, the Group Maritime Policy Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with international maritime organizations and relevant technical bodies of international maritime industry associations, as well as government agencies, policymakers, and national industry associations to advance the Group's interests in the UK.
This role is ideal for a proactive and strategic professional with a deep understanding of maritime regulations and a proven ability to influence and engage with key stakeholders. The Director will act as an external advocate for MSC on priority policy matters and contribute to shaping the regulatory environment in alignment with the Group's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
* Attend the work of the International Maritime Organization and represent MSC interests in close coordination with MSC entities.
* Monitor and analyze national and international legislative and regulatory developments impacting the maritime sector.
* Coordinate MSC's government-facing advocacy in the UK, including national and local authorities.
* Support all MSC Group divisions in their interaction with UK institutions and national regulatory bodies.
* Represent MSC in relevant industry associations, public hearings, and policy discussions both in relation to IMO and the UK.
* Develop and implement strategies to engage with government officials and regulatory bodies.
* Advise senior leadership on public policy risks and opportunities.
* Draft and deliver policy briefings, reports, and position papers.
* Foster partnerships with key stakeholders, including national, regional, and local authorities.
* Coordinate internal teams to align business strategies with public policy goals.
* Contribute to MSC's broader European and international policy agenda.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or a related field.
* Minimum 10 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory roles, ideally within the maritime or logistics sectors.
* Knowledge of UK legislative and regulatory processes.
* Familiarity with maritime, transport, energy, and climate policy frameworks.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
* Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and policy research tools.
