Duties and Role:
1. Direct 3rd level fault resolution on Local Area Network (LAN) Elements to sectors, sites and the Service Area cells;
2. Day-to-day operation of local and remote network sites routing, switching, and wireless infrastructure including some tasks that require installation and troubleshoot of physical layer;
3. Advises on fault diagnosis throughout North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) sites utilizing a number of management platforms ( HP Network Automation, InterMapper, Splunk);
4. Ensure that, on LAN elements, remote routine maintenance throughout NATO sites is performed;
5. Coordinate with sites to implement LAN elements centralization, standardization and best practices
6. Liaise and collaborate internally throughout the NCI Agency Service Line infrastructures and to external organizations for fault rectification activities;
7. Being responsible for the maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures within the LAN Cell;
8. Performing operation and maintenance activities for current NATO operations ( KFOR, OAE, and RS);
9. Operate provided management toolsets and capabilities;
10. Ensure a common understanding of the available toolsets and method of utilization within the centralized and distributed user base;
11. Investigating and proposing long term solutions to encountered equipment and configuration problems;
12. Create and maintain network diagrams using various tools and applications such as Microsoft Visio;
13. Be accountable for the hardware and software part of network equipment like switches, routers, servers, network analysis devices ( Fluke);
14. When required, coordinates on-site surveys, validations and system acceptance testing into the Local Area Network and Wider CIS infrastructure.
Requirements
Skill, Knowledge & Experience:
15. The candidate must have a currently active NATO COSMIC TOP SECRET security clearance
16. University degree in a field related to the function of the post;
17. Or exceptionally, the lack of a university/college degree may be compensated by the demonstration of a candidate's particular abilities or at least 10 years extensive and progressive expertise in the duties related to the function of the post;
18. Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
19. Knowledge of NATO responsibilities, structure and organization, including Allied Command Operations (ACO) and Allied Command Transformation (ACT);
20. 3 years' experience in all aspects of maintenance, repair and operation of large complex multi-vendor IP communications networks and related equipment;
21. Experience with Windows Server 2012 and linux operating systems;
22. Experience with STP (Spanning Tree Protocol), VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network), FHRP (First Hop Redundancy Protocol), port-security, TACACS (Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System), SNMP (Simple Network Management protocol), ACL (Access Control Lists), QoS (Quality of Service), IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol), PIM (Protocol-Independent Multicast), VRF (Virtual Route Forwarding), LACP (Link Aggregation Control Protocol), LAG (Link Aggregation Group), IPV6 (Internet Protocol version 6) network technologies and concepts;
23. Understanding of Firewall, Intrusion Detection System, IPSec (Internet Protocol Security), VPN (Virtual Private Network) technologies and concepts;
24. Knowledge of Data Centre and virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Nexus devices, VSS (Virtual Switching System), vPC (Virtual Port-channel), MEC (Multichassis EtherChannel), etc.;
25. Knowledge of shell scripting such as bash, and Powershell;
26. Knowledge of the principles of command and control systems;
27. Familiarity with network monitoring tools ( HP Network Automation, InterMapper, Splunk, Spectrum);
28. Shall have general understanding of MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), Video, Voice and Wireless technologies and concepts;
29. Familiarity with any ticketing system regarding networking issues;
30. Level of knowledge shall be equal or higher than: CCNP: Cisco Certified Network Professional; CCDP: Cisco Certified Design Professional;
31. It will be considered as asset if you hold the following certifications: Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation or Higher; VMWare certification; A+ Certification; Any other IT industry network certifications
