We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel located in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Mexico City or San Jose, Costa Rica, to support all of our sales, compliance and regional activities in Latin America, with a specific focus on channel/partner and public sector contracts. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide legal guidance on compliance, channel/partner distribution agreements, sales and public sector contracts.
* Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations affecting sales and public sector engagements.
* Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including agreements related to channel partners and public sector entities.
* Advise on compliance issues related to sales practices and public sector procurement.
* Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on business operations.
* Collaborate with internal teams to develop compliance training and policies.
Qualifications
* Law degree from an accredited/recognized university, and a fully qualified lawyer.
* At least 8 years of combined law firm and in‑house experience with a global public company and experience working with Internet or technology companies preferred.
* Experience with sales functions in the technology sector.
* Knowledge and experience related to general IP and technology licensing matters, antitrust, marketing, privacy and data security, and compliance desirable.
* Relevant experience related to channel/partner operations including VADs, VARs, partners and other distribution related agreements.
* Experience with public sector and government related sales.
* Must be able to function independently, and work proactively as well as collaboratively and cross‑functionally.
* Ability to work under pressure in an intense, fast‑paced environment required.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Exceptional judgment and creativity, with the ability to think strategically and give practical advice appropriately weighing legal and business objectives.
* Ability to handle ambiguity, juggle many matters at once and quickly shift from one situation or task to another.
* Strong executive presence, credibility and the ability to influence stakeholders.
* Excellent drafting, oral and interpersonal skills.
* Written and verbal fluency in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese.
* Enthusiasm for positive and respectful relationships internally and externally.
