We are looking for a Requirement Engineer for one of our clients based in Luxembourg:
Freelance or permanent contract via a payrolling company
Strong knowledge of financial regulations (EMIR, MiFID II, Amld5, regulatory reporting)
Hybrid work model (onsite for the first 3 months, then up to 2 days/week remote)
English fluent is mandatory, French or German is a plus
Your responsibilities
Requirements translation & specification:
You will translate business and regulatory needs into clear functional and technical specifications
You will document reporting logic, data transformations, and field-level requirements
You will ensure specifications are testable and aligned with applicable guideline
You will collaborate with stakeholders to refine scope and clarify assumptions
Data mapping & reporting design:
You will lead data mapping activities across systems and regulatory formats (XML, JSON, CSV, etc.)
You will prototype reporting outputs using SQL and Python to validate logic and identify gaps
You will identify inconsistencies and define transformation rules for accurate reporting
You will contribute to defining data validation rules and quality checks
Cross functional collaboration:
You will work closely with compliance experts to validate interpretations of regulatory requirements
You will collaborate with architects and technical leads to design practical solutions
You will support delivery teams during implementation, testing, and go-live phases
You will actively participate in workshops and decision-making discussions
Quality assurance & delivery support:
You will provide functional guidance throughout development and testing cycles
You will prepare edge cases, validation scenarios, and expected output examples
You will ensure traceability between regulatory requirements and delivered solutions
You will support defect analysis and help drive timely resolution
Profile
You are experienced in financial regulations and reporting (EMIR, MiFID II, Amld5, etc.)
You are familiar with trade lifecycle concepts and financial products (securities, derivatives, FX)
You are comfortable working with structured data formats such as XML and JSON
You are proficient in SQL and have working knowledge of Python for data analysis and prototyping
You are able to analyze data models and understand integration flows
You are skilled at writing clear, structured functional specifications
You are confident handling ambiguous requirements and facilitating decisions
You are comfortable collaborating across business and technical teams
You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevées field
You have at least 7 years of experience in data engineering or backend engineering with a strong data focus
You are experienced in regulated environments such as Finance, insurance, or healthcare (preferred)
You are an effective communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
You can work under pressure, especially with regulatory deadlines
You have experience with core banking systems (e.g., Temenos) as a plus
