About the Role Our client is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Architect (Freelance) to lead the design, modeling, and evolution of complex IT systems — spanning servers, networks, storage, and cloud. This is a mission-critical freelance opportunity in Brussels, where your expertise will directly shape the performance, security, and scalability of enterprise infrastructure. What You’ll Be Doing Analyze business and project-level needs to architect scalable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure solutions. Design technical diagrams, model and simulate both new and existing systems. Implement and integrate On-Premises, Cloud, and Hybrid solutions, ensuring seamless interoperability. Supervise and validate the quality of project deliverables, maintaining rigorous technical standards. Embed cybersecurity concepts and contribute to the implementation of security and compliance policies (GDPR, ISO27001, NIS2). Write and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and procedures. Actively participate in cyber risk management and propose improvements for system performance and security. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure governance and service continuity. Champion best practices in ITIL, governance, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle. What We’re Looking For Proven expertise in cloud and hybrid architectures, with hands-on experience in both design and implementation. Advanced skills in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Deep knowledge of virtual, physical, and storage architecture. Strong documentation and governance capabilities, with a commitment to clarity and precision. Advanced understanding of ITIL frameworks and best practices. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), IaaS, and PaaS models. Expertise in network protocols and security (firewalls, Zero Trust, IAM, etc.). Builder mindset: ownership, problem-solving, and a drive for impact. Ability to work on-site in Brussels at least 3 days per week (partial remote possible). Commitment to compliance with GDPR, ISO27001, and NIS2 regulations. Fluent in English (French or Dutch is a plus). Experience in large-scale, mission-critical environments is highly valued. Other Requirements This is a freelance position, full-time, with a mission duration of approximately 2 years (440 man-days, renewable up to 880 days). Availability to work during business hours (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM), with no overtime unless expressly authorized. Willingness to comply with our client’s Code of Conduct for External Service Providers. Ability to coordinate leave with project and service continuity requirements.
