This is a fulltime hybrid role where you will be working from our office in Zaventem, Belgium.
Your role
Our Surety team is unique within Zurich as we issue bonds (bank guarantees) rather than traditional insurance, supporting mid-size and large corporates across sectors. As Junior Surety Underwriter you are involved in both the guarantee underwriting & issuance as well as the client underwriting. Client underwriting is related to assessing the financial standing and performance of our clients by analysing their financial information, including balance sheets, cash flow and financing. In this role, you work closely with CFOs and other senior finance decision-makers.
Key accountabilities
1. Efficient and timely drafting, issuance, and administration of guarantees for our clients
2. Processing of contractual documentation where applicable teaming up with banks or other insurers
3. Instruct the registration and invoicing of bonds
4. Actively participate in client meetings and networks
5. Analysis of Surety exposures (including international programs)
6. Independent review of corporate credit information: annual statements, interim reporting, budgets and credit lines; create risk assessments and annual reviews
About you
7. Minimum a bachelor’s degree preferably in Economics, Business Law, or equivalent in experience
8. Curiosity, entrepreneurial skills and ability to work in a small team across the Benelux
9. Client-oriented, service minded, detail obsessed and open to being challenged
10. Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written), French is an asset
11. Affinity with IT systems and good knowledge of MS Office applications
