About The Team
The Financial Partnerships team at Airwallex is dedicated to building and managing strategic relationships with key financial institutions and partners worldwide. We work to expand Airwallex’s network, enhance our product offerings, and drive mutual growth. What You’ll Do
We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Financial Partnerships, to be based in São Paulo, Brazil to own our key strategic relationships related to our banking infrastructure across the US and the Americas. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and an out‑of‑the‑box thinker who has worked in the payments and/or financial services industry. Experience building and maintaining relationships with financial institutions in the US and the Americas whilst working at a payment institution/EMI is essential. A strong network of banking partners, card schemes, and payment networks is required to help Airwallex scale. Please submit resumes in English.
Responsibilities
* Lead, develop, and implement a banking partnerships strategy for the US and the Americas that supports Airwallex’s global collections and payouts network.
* Manage our most strategic partnership opportunities, both existing and new, and act as the main point of contact between Airwallex and our partners.
* Conduct market research to understand the competitive landscape to ensure that Airwallex maintains its position as a payment leader.
* Identify and evaluate opportunities to integrate with local banking partners, acquirers, and payment methods as Airwallex expands to new geographies.
* Coordinate due diligence processes with prospective partners and project manage onboarding with new partners.
* Develop yourself as an industry thought leader.
Who You Are
We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum Qualifications
* 7+ years of experience working with financial institutions, card schemes, and payment networks.
* Exceptional attention to detail and ability to build and maintain relationships. A good understanding of compliance and onboarding with global and regional banks.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams including Product, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Commercial teams.
* International experience - working in multiple markets or managing cross-border relationships.
* A proven track record of working with technology-led businesses in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills – able to connect with people at all levels, internally and externally, and communicate project expectations effectively.
* Ability to thrive under pressure and in a startup environment with ambiguity.
* Strong negotiation skills to navigate complex commercial discussions for the best outcome for Airwallex.
* Team player who collaborates across the organization and inspires a shared vision.
Preferred Qualifications
* Proven experience at a global, pre-IPO startup
* Experience building a financial partnerships function in a new geography
* Experience with Fintech thought leadership
