Learn and grow with us as we tackle the most complex challenges in helping more people to hear and experience life's opportunities. /p h3The Opportunity /h3 pWe are seeking an experienced bPrincipal System Architect, eSW /b to contribute to Cochlear's global System Architecture community, with an opportunity to join the bSystem Architecture MBSE /b team based in bVallauris (France) and Mechelen (Belgium) /b. /p pIn this role, you will lead the definition, realisation, and continuous improvement of L1/L2 system architectures, with a focus on embedded software (eSW) architecture across multiple functional domains. You will set technical direction as a cluster and workgroup leader - driving architectural coherence, modularity, and reuse across platforms, product families, and systems, while leading improvements to architectural discipline and practices. /p pYou will work closely with Product Development, Embedded Technology Platforms, Research Technologies, Quality Regulatory and global RD stakeholders to ensure architectural integrity, reuse, scalability and long-term competitiveness. /p h3Responsibilities include: /h3 ul liLead the definition, realisation and continuous improvement of bL1/L2 system architectures /b and embedded technology platforms /li liDrive bend-to-end architectural design /b across products, platforms and product families, maximising reuse and modularity /li liResolve complex, cross-domain architectural challenges spanning software, hardware and systems engineering /li liAct as a bridge between bSystem Architecture, Advanced Innovation / RT and Embedded Software Development Delivery /b, ensuring architectural decisions enable future development opportunities and software platform evolution /li liChampion systems thinking, MBSE and architectural best practices across RD /li /ul h3Embedded Software Platform Architecture /h3 ul liLead bembedded software (eSW) architecture /b across multiple functional domains /li liDefine and govern system and platform interfaces /li liProvide technical guidance to embedded software leads and development teams /li liEnsure architectural alignment across platforms, product families and systems /li /ul h3Architecture Discipline Practice /h3 ul liEstablish, evolve and align architectural practices, standards and methodologies globally /li liMentor, coach and uplift architectural capability across the organisation /li /ul h3Innovation Intellectual Property /h3 ul liStrengthen Cochlear's bintellectual property portfolio /b through innovative architectural solutions /li liAssess emerging technologies and guide their adoption into future platforms and products /li liCollaborate with internal and external partners to evaluate, generate and protect IP /li /ul pAbout You. As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion delivering safe, effective, and high-quality hearing solutions. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience: /p h3Essential /h3 ul liDegree in Engineering or Science (bSoftware, Embedded /b, Electrical or Systems engineering preferred) /li liExtensive post‑qualification experience in systems engineering and/or architecture within complex RD environments, including embedded software /li liProven leadership in end-to-end system architecture: design, integration, deployment and lifecycle management /li liStrong understanding of system decomposition, interface management and architectural trade-offs /li liExperience working in regulated industries (medical devices highly desirable) /li liAbility to influence, communicate and collaborate across multidisciplinary, global teams /li /ul h3What Would Make You Stand Out /h3 ul liDeep experience in embedded software architecture and hardware-software integration /li liExperience programming for embedded targets using C, C++, C# and Python for test automation /li liExperience working at all stages of software development lifecycle /li liMBSE, MBPLE and SysML modelling experience /li liExperience establishing architectural governance, standards or review boards /li liTrack record of innovation, patents or technology leadership /li liExperience mentoring or coaching senior engineers and architects /li liINCOSE (CSEP/ESEP) or MBSE/SysML certifications /li liMaster's degree or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline. For candidates with degrees obtained outside Belgium, a formal recognition process may be required as part of the hiring journey. /li /ul pWhy this role is for you?
