About the Marketing + Media Alliance (MMA)

Position Overview

The Head of Marketing is one of the most visible and influential leadership roles within MMA. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will be responsible for building and executing a modern marketing strategy that elevates MMA’s influence, expands its reach, strengthens member engagement, and positions the organization as the leading authority on the future of marketing.

This role requires a rare combination of strategic thinking and hands‑on execution. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable shaping industry narratives, building demand generation programs, leveraging AI‑powered marketing technologies, and rolling up their sleeves to make things happen.

The successful candidate will help transform MMA’s research, insights, and community into industry‑shaping ideas that influence how CMOs and enterprise marketers think, act, and lead.

Key ResponsibilitiesThought Leadership & Content Strategy
* Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that translates complex marketing concepts into practical insights for CMOs and enterprise marketers.
* Build a scalable content engine that amplifies MMA’s research, events, and thought leadership across owned, earned, and paid channels.
* Produce and oversee high‑impact content including reports, articles, whitepapers, webinars, presentations, and executive‑level communications.
* Ensure all content reflects MMA’s commitment to evidence‑based, science‑driven marketing.
Digital Marketing & Audience Growth
* Lead MMA’s digital marketing strategy across paid media, organic social, email, and emerging channels.
* Design and optimize campaigns that engage senior marketing leaders, enterprise brands, and marketing technology executives.
* Utilize analytics and experimentation to improve engagement, conversion, and audience growth.
* Establish MMA as a best‑in‑class example of modern marketing execution.
* Champion the adoption of AI across marketing workflows, content creation, personalization, automation, and analytics.
* Identify and implement technologies that improve efficiency, scale, and impact.
* Help position MMA as a leading voice on AI’s role in the future of marketing.
Executive Partnership & Organizational Leadership
* Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO on organizational priorities, industry initiatives, and growth opportunities.
* Collaborate across membership, retention, events, research, and sales teams to ensure alignment and execution.
* Build strong relationships with industry leaders, member companies, sponsors, and partners.
Demand Generation & Membership Growth
* Partner with sales and membership teams to generate demand, strengthen the pipeline, and accelerate revenue growth.
* Develop programs that increase member acquisition, engagement, retention, and advocacy.
* Leverage CRM and audience data to improve targeting, personalization, and customer experience.
Event Marketing & Industry Engagement
* Drive attendee acquisition and engagement for MMA’s global events and webinars.
* Develop integrated campaigns that showcase the value of MMA’s programs, research, and community.
* Expand MMA’s presence in industry conversations through speaking opportunities, media engagement, and strategic partnerships.
Brand Leadership
* Continue the evolution of MMA’s brand positioning and ensure consistency across all marketing channels.
* Reinforce MMA’s identity as the leading authority on marketing transformation and innovation.
* Increase awareness and recognition of MMA’s research, recommendations, and industry impact.
* Enhance MMA’s marketing technology stack, data infrastructure, reporting capabilities, and operational effectiveness.
* Leverage platforms including HubSpot, Salesforce, Pardot, Outreach, and emerging AI technologies.
* Establish dashboards and performance metrics that drive accountability and continuous improvement.
Success in this Role Will Be Measured By
* Increased influence and adoption of MMA thought leadership across the marketing community.
* Growth in membership, retention, and revenue.
* Increased attendance and engagement across events, webinars, and digital programs.
* Expanded visibility and recognition of MMA within industry media and executive forums.

You are an intellectually curious, highly capable marketing leader who combines strategic vision with operational excellence. You have a track record of building marketing programs that drive measurable business outcomes while earning credibility with senior executives. You are energized by the opportunity to shape industry conversations, challenge conventional thinking, and help organizations adopt better marketing practices. You are a builder, not simply a manager.

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree required;
advanced degree welcomebut not required.
* 15+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience.
* Proven success marketing to CMOs, enterprise marketers, and/or the marketing technology ecosystem.
* Strong experience in content strategy, thought leadership, demand generation, digital marketing, and audience development.
* Demonstrated expertise in paid media, organic social, email marketing, CRM, and marketing analytics.
* Experience leveraging AI and marketing technology to improve performance and efficiency.
* Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience partnering closely with executive leadership teams, including CEOs and CMOs.
* Event marketing, membership, association, or community‑building experience is a plus.
* A passion for advancing the marketing profession and helping marketers achieve better outcomes.
