Responsibilities
* Participate and review data center site selection and contractual evaluations, design solutions, and support project executions through construction to final site acceptance.
* Participate and review Data Center MEP Design and other necessary disciplines for new data center builds and data hall fit outs.
* Create data hall layout plans and perform test fits to validate server capacity plans and failover calculations.
* Participate in Testing and Commissioning Discussions to determine required tests to verify design elements.
* Support the DC Engineering FM team to become a subject matter expert and understand how to overcome design limitations and risks.
* Conduct a periodic audit or assessment to assess the effectiveness and practicality of the design in use on our data centers.
* Be an ambassador to explain data center infrastructure design to visitors.
* Find ways to collaborate and break new ground to enhance MEP design to meet future business needs.
* Maintain positive and collaborative working relations with partner teams, vendors, teammates, and internal customers.
* International travel up to 6 times per year to regions including China, Americas, and South Asia; must have a valid passport and necessary visas.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant disciplines.
* Knowledge of power and cooling designs and calculations to determine capacity requirements.
* Understanding of Power and Cooling Redundancy implementation (e.g., 2N or N+1 Distributed Redundant, UTI, TIA‑942, ASHRAE standards).
* Experience with Cooling Redundancy and Concurrent Maintainability implementation (e.g., N+1 or N+2).
* Experience in leading or influencing Engineering Design and Architect teams to complete Data Center Conceptual through 90% Detailed Design Process.
* Practice of Data Center Tiering Standards (TIA‑942 Rated 3, or Uptime Tier 3) in a detailed design process.
* Lead or influence a construction team to complete Data Hall fit‑out experience, including IT services coordination, power and cooling planning.
* Lead or influence a testing and commissioning team to perform L1 to L5 commissioning tests to validate system design intent and resolve technical problems.
Preferred Qualifications
* 4+ years or more experience in data center engineering.
* Mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience such as generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, UPS, electrical sub‑distribution systems.
* Experience with liquid cooling for IT systems.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to clarity and detail.
