Open VSX powers a rapidly expanding ecosystem of AI-native IDEs, cloud development environments, and VS Code-compatible platforms. With the launch of Open VSX Managed Registry, the Eclipse Foundation now provides commercial adopters with SLA-backed reliability, defined support tiers, and enterprise-grade operational assurance for production-scale usage, while preserving vendor neutrality, open governance, and free access for individual developers and open source projects. /p pWe are looking for a candidate with proven product marketing experience in developer tools, cloud development environments, software platforms, marketplaces, SaaS, or related technical products. Candidates based in the European Union or Canada are preferred. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 pbProduct Positioning Messaging /b /p ul liDevelop and execute product marketing programs to amplify awareness, adoption, and participation in Open VSX and related developer tooling initiatives. /li liDefine compelling positioning, messaging, value propositions, and audience-specific narratives for Open VSX, including its role as a vendor-neutral, open source extension registry for modern developer environments and as critical infrastructure for AI-native IDEs, cloud development environments, and VS Code-compatible platforms. /li liDevelop clear messaging that explains the value of funding critical developer infrastructure, including the role of Open VSX Managed Registry in providing SLA-backed reliability, predictable scaling, defined support, and enterprise-grade operational assurance for production-scale commercial adopters. /li liTranslate technical capabilities, product roadmap priorities, customer needs, usage insights, and market feedback into clear messaging for developers, technical leaders, enterprise buyers, platform vendors, AI tooling companies, and ecosystem partners. /li /ul pbGo-to-Market Launch /b /p ul liWork closely with Product, Sales, and Business Development to support the development, launch, and promotion of Open VSX Managed Registry and other commercial offerings, including packaging input, pricing feedback, customer-facing messaging, and go-to-market plans. /li liPartner with the Product Manager, Growth to translate product strategy, roadmap priorities, customer needs, usage insights, and market feedback into effective marketing strategies, launch plans, and campaign priorities. /li liCreate and execute launch plans for Open VSX offerings, releases, and major milestones, including website updates, marketplace messaging, documentation, marketing materials, launch announcements, testimonials, and social media content. /li liMake data-driven decisions to move Open VSX initiatives forward. Forecast, measure, and report the results of marketing initiatives, and use insights to optimize messaging, campaigns, sales enablement, and go-to-market activities. /li /ul pbSales Enablement Commercial Support /b /p ul liPartner with the Senior Sales Manager, Commercial Offerings to support prospect education, pipeline development, campaign execution, account-based marketing, sales collateral, proposal messaging, and customer-facing materials. /li liDevelop sales enablement materials and campaign content that help internal stakeholders clearly explain Open VSX offerings, differentiation, use cases, customer profiles, commercial triggers, and business value. /li liWork with Sales and Business Development teams to develop and implement programs that support lead generation, customer conversations, member recruitment, sponsor engagement, and retention. /li liSupport customer and prospect conversations by providing messaging, objection handling, competitive positioning, proof points, and tailored content for technical and business audiences. /li /ul pbContent Campaigns /b /p ul liCreate high-quality product marketing assets, including messaging frameworks, solution briefs, sales decks, website copy, blog posts, case studies, webinars, launch materials, FAQs, competitive positioning, customer proof points, and member or customer success stories. /li liCollaborate with community and marketing teams to define, implement, and promote programs that encourage participation in the Open VSX ecosystem. Assets and programs may include videos, articles, tutorials, webinars, survey reports, case studies, member success stories, and other content as appropriate. /li liPromote and support the Foundation’s presence at relevant developer conferences and industry events. As required, assist with event planning, booth messaging, on-site collateral, speaking opportunities, and post-event follow-up campaigns. /li liSupport press and analyst relations by contributing to press releases, briefings, presentations, and messaging with a specific emphasis on developer tools, marketplaces, open source software, and commercial adoption. /li /ul pbEcosystem Community /b /p ul liEngage with developers, extension publishers, enterprise platform teams, technical line of business leaders, platform vendors, AI tooling companies, and ecosystem partners to communicate the Open VSX value proposition and gather market insights. /li liBuild close working relationships with companies, individuals, and community stakeholders within the Open VSX, Eclipse Theia, cloud IDE, and developer tools ecosystems. /li liIdentify and engage with developer tools influencers, community leaders, extension publishers, and ecosystem advocates via social media and other channels to help promote Open VSX and related Eclipse Foundation projects. /li liStay informed about trends in developer tools, AI-assisted software development, cloud development environments, extension marketplaces, open source licensing, enterprise software procurement, and commercial open source infrastructure. Provide market insights and competitive benchmarking to internal stakeholders. /li liAs required, attend and support relevant community, project, steering committee, marketing, product, or commercial planning meetings. /li liOccasional travel may be required to support conferences, ecosystem meetings, and team events. /li /ul pbDesired Skills and Experience /b /p ul liBachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. An MBA is a strong asset. /li liProven experience, ideally 5+ years, in product marketing for developer tools, software platforms, marketplaces, cloud services, SaaS, enterprise software, or related technical products. /li liExperience supporting product launches, commercial offerings, sales enablement, go-to-market planning, pipeline development, and cross-functional collaboration with Product, Sales, and Business Development teams. /li liStrong understanding of how product-led growth, consultative sales, and community-led adoption can work together to support the responsible commercialization of open source-based services. /li liAbility to translate technical capabilities and commercial offerings into clear, compelling messaging for developers, technical leaders, enterprise buyers, platform vendors, AI tooling companies, and ecosystem partners. /li liFamiliarity with developer ecosystems, extension marketplaces, IDEs, cloud development environments, DevOps platforms, AI-assisted software development, or commercial open source infrastructure is highly desirable. /li liProven ability to support sales conversations through strong messaging, enablement materials, objection handling, competitive positioning, and customer-facing content. /li liTrack record of successfully working with developer communities.
