Team Lead – E-Bike Mechanics
Upway is a fast growing startup building the largest marketplace for refurbished e-bikes globally. We have refurbished over 20,000 e-bikes in just two years and are growing fast! We are looking for a Bike Mechanic for our Upway Mechelen Refurbishment Centre. The mechanic team repairs a large number of different used e-bikes and refurbishes them to excellent condition, providing Upway’s customers with a vast and high‑quality e‑bike selection.

Compensation: €32,500 - €38,000 / month
Key Responsibilities
Lead & Mentor: Provide hands‑on guidance, training, and support to a team of e‑bike mechanics, ensuring continuous skill development and high performance.
Technical Expertise: Serve as the highest‑skilled mechanic in the team, troubleshooting complex repairs and setting the benchmark for technical excellence.
Workflow & Efficiency: Oversee day‑to‑day workshop operations, optimizing processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and adherence to service timelines.
Quality Control: Ensure every refurbished e‑bike meets Upway’s rigorous quality standards before it reaches customers.
Problem Solving & Innovation: Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross‑functional teams (e.g. Operations Specialists and Customer service) to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols and workshop best practices are adhered to, promoting a safe and organized work environment.
Qualifications
Extensive hands‑on experience in e‑bike mechanics (5+ years preferred)
Previous team management experience, with a proven track record of mentoring and developing team members.
Strong ability to diagnose, repair, and service a wide range of e‑bike brands and models.
Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
A passion for sustainable mobility and a customer‑first mindset
Willingness to work in a team in a fast‑paced environment
PC basic skills (Email, Office)
Good knowledge of English
