About the Role
Fynde has partnered with a leading European plastics and packaging manufacturer to appoint a commercially driven Business Development Director to lead strategic growth across injection moulded plastics and precision tooling solutions.
This is a high-impact commercial role focused on winning new business, opening strategic doors, and building long-term customer partnerships across FMCG, food, beverage, and industrial markets. The business has an established reputation for engineering quality, technical expertise, and vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities, including its own internal toolmaking division.
As part of an ongoing commercial transformation, the company is looking for a true “hunter” profile — someone capable of identifying opportunities, developing relationships at senior levels, and converting complex technical discussions into long-term commercial partnerships.
This is not a transactional sales position. The successful candidate will operate as a strategic commercial leader, working closely with engineering, project management, and production teams to deliver tailored manufacturing and tooling solutions to customers across Europe.
The role offers flexibility to be based in either the Netherlands or Belgium, with regular interaction expected with internal manufacturing and technical teams in Belgium.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute a strategic commercial growth plan across plastics injection moulding and tooling services.
* Identify, target, and win new business opportunities across FMCG, food, beverage, packaging, and industrial sectors.
* Build and manage a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities with a focus on long-term partnerships rather than short-term projects.
* Open doors with new customers and proactively develop relationships with decision-makers, procurement leaders, technical teams, and operational stakeholders.
* Support the growth of the internal toolmaking division by generating third-party tooling opportunities alongside plastics manufacturing projects.
* Act as the commercial interface between customers and internal engineering, production, and project teams.
* Lead complex commercial and technical discussions around tooling, mould design, automation, industrialisation, and production optimisation.
* Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing structures, and long-term supply partnerships.
* Identify market trends and growth opportunities in sustainable plastics, automation, reusable packaging, and operational efficiency.
* Contribute to broader commercial transformation initiatives, helping shape processes, customer engagement strategies, and growth direction.
* Provide regular pipeline reporting, forecasting, and strategic commercial insight to senior leadership.
Candidate Profile
* Proven success in a senior business development, commercial leadership, or strategic sales role within plastics injection moulding, tooling, manufacturing, or related industrial sectors.
* Strong hunter mentality with a demonstrated ability to open doors, win new business, and build commercial pipelines.
* Technical understanding of moulds, tooling, plastics manufacturing, automation, and industrial production processes.
* Experience selling complex manufacturing or engineered solutions rather than purely commoditised products.
* Track record of building long-term partnerships with FMCG, packaging, food, beverage, or industrial customers.
* Commercially astute with strong negotiation, relationship management, and strategic planning capabilities.
* Comfortable operating autonomously while collaborating cross-functionally with technical and operational teams.
* Fluent in Dutch and English; additional European languages are advantageous.
* Based in the Netherlands or Belgium with flexibility for regular travel across Europe.
* Mature, proactive, entrepreneurial, and capable of operating in a hands-on growth environment.
