Overview
We’re seeking a seasoned, people‑first technology leader to guide and grow a team of highly skilled Architects supporting the J&J Innovative Medicine (IM) Commercial business across EMEA. Your team will shape the end‑to‑end application architecture strategy—frameworks, patterns, tools, and ways of working— that enable secure integration, reusability, and faster delivery of business value. You’ll inspire strong technical decisions, stay ahead of emerging trends, and build a trusted network with product teams and engineering groups across J&J. You’ll be accountable for defining solution direction for key IM product lines, ensuring alignment with J&J standards and Enterprise Architecture on capabilities, roadmaps, and priorities—while pragmatically unlocking speed and innovation.
Key Competencies
Strong grounding in architecture methodologies, artifacts, and governance (e.g., reference architectures, target‑state roadmaps, decision records).
Ability to navigate ambiguity, lead complex trade‑offs, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders.
Strategic planner and decisive communicator who keeps the big picture in mind while driving execution.
Shape product vision and architecture roadmaps for commercial product groups; integrate and align strategies across IT product teams.
Champion reusable components and scalable platforms aligned with security, privacy, and data governance; define non‑functional requirements (performance, resilience, maintainability).
Innovation mindset—continuously improving how teams deliver value through modern engineering practices and emerging technology adoption.
Technology scout who maintains a pulse on industry trends (cloud‑native, data/AI, integration, security) to anticipate future business needs.
Define end‑to‑end integration patterns and application design standards; coach teams through design reviews and architectural decisions.
Ensure compliance within scope of responsibility: fit‑for‑purpose documentation, audit readiness, and participation in compliance activities.
Qualifications
Education:
A degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, with 7+ years of relevant experience leading a commercial or IT domain in digital solutions, systems integration, or architecture.
Required:
Strong knowledge of core commercial processes and technologies in a pharmaceutical environment (customer engagement, digital channels, analytics, and data management). Deep experience with integration patterns to connect multiple solution components and business systems. Technical product management and implementation experience, with a bias for outcomes and customer value. Proven ability to assess proposed solutions, articulate options, and recommend a path forward. Track record synthesizing leadership and stakeholder inputs into clear decisions while representing customer/user needs. Ability to translate business process needs into technology solutions; comfortable working at an abstract level and “pivoting” to the highest‑impact answer. Ability to relate business priorities to technology investments and recommend priorities based on multi‑stakeholder value. Skilled at communicating trade‑offs among business needs, technology requirements, timelines, costs, and risks. Experience influencing across multiple levels of a global organization.
Preferred:
Experience in one or more of the following solution domains: Cloud‑native and serverless architecture across major cloud providers, including containers and orchestration; Modern integration (API design, API management, event‑driven patterns); SaaS/CRM platforms such as Salesforce and ecosystem integration; Digital Experience platforms and modern web architectures; Data & analytics (data integration, MDM, data governance, lakehouse/warehouse patterns, and streaming analytics); AI/ML enablement (MLOps foundations, responsible AI considerations, and leveraging GenAI and Agentic AI safely for productivity and customer experiences); DevSecOps and platform engineering (CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated security scanning, and policy as code); Observability and reliability engineering (distributed tracing, logging/metrics, and tooling to meet SLO/SLAs). Confidence operating in complex, global ecosystems with regulated/compliance‑driven delivery.
