We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially driven Business Unit Director to lead a large-scale, multi-country commercial outsourcing programme supporting a portfolio of specialty pharmaceutical brands. This role is based across Europe (multi-country remit) with frequent international travel.
This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for business performance, including P&L ownership, client partnership, and delivery of commercial outcomes across complex therapy areas, including biologics.
You will play a critical role in shaping strategy, driving execution, and leading high-performing teams to deliver measurable impact across multiple markets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the end-to-end performance of a multi-country brand portfolio, delivering against revenue, growth, and strategic objectives
2. Translate brand strategy into scalable, high-impact commercial execution models
3. Provide leadership across the full product lifecycle (pre-launch, launch, in-market optimisation)
4. Drive excellence in field-based promotional execution, enabling strong adoption of innovative therapies
5. Own full P&L accountability, including forecasting, cost management, and margin delivery
6. Act as the senior strategic partner, influencing direction and driving long-term portfolio growth
7. Optimise field operating models, including resourcing, coverage, and performance management
8. Lead and align cross-functional teams across Commercial, Medical, Operations, Finance, HR, and Compliance
9. Establish and lead governance frameworks to monitor performance, risk, and strategic alignment
10. Ensure all activities are delivered in line with regulatory, legal, and compliance requirements
Requirements
11. 10–15+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences commercial leadership
12. Proven track record leading multi-country commercial teams within specialty or biologic therapies
13. Demonstrated success driving portfolio and brand performance across the full product lifecycle
14. Strong P&L ownership with clear financial and commercial accountability
15. Deep expertise in field-based commercial models and sales force effectiveness
16. Ability to influence senior stakeholders across multiple markets
17. Experience operating in complex, multi-country environments
18. Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capability
19. Solid understanding of commercial compliance and governance frameworks
20. Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related field
