Vacancy: Scientist – Compound Management & Logistics (Screening Team)Location: Leuven Position: Full-time, on-site Department: Research – Screening & Compound ManagementAbout the RoleHirundo Biosciences – a wholly owned subsidiary of Gedeon Richter Plc. - is seeking a motivated Scientist in Compound Management & Logistics to join its Discovery Research within the Screening Team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on laboratory work and wants to take responsibility for our compound management and logistics activities.You will be responsible for setting up and structuring the compound management function, implementing workflows, and integrating automation. At the same time, you will remain actively involved in day‑to‑day laboratory operations. We are looking for someone who wants to stay close to the bench, work independently, and take pride in high-quality operational execution.Key ResponsibilitiesEstablish and drive compound management and logistics workflows from the ground up.Take responsibility for daily compound management activities, including receiving, registering, weighing, labelling, and formatting compounds.Ensure accurate, traceable data entry and compliant storage of compounds. Manage the full lifecycle of compounds, from receipt to archival or disposal.Prepare and ship compounds to internal teams and external collaborators ensuring correct formatting, documentation, and timelines.Implement and maintain automated systems for compound storage, dispensing, and assay preparation; develop scripts, integrate workflows with our database, and resolve bottlenecks through process improvements.Provide user training and support to ensure efficient and safe use of equipment and workflows.Develop a robust operational framework that can be supported by a future junior colleague.Serve as the primary point of contact for scientists and collaboration partners regarding compound management and logistics, assay planning and throughput needs.Profile RequirementsEducation & ExperienceBachelor or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, laboratory technology or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.Experience in sample management and handling, screening operations, and laboratory automation.Familiarity with biological assays, analytical workflows or routine / clinical lab processes is a plus.Ability to translate experimental workflows into automated protocols.Effective communicator and team player who works independently, can mentor junior staff, and shows the motivation and ownership mindset needed to grow toward a senior profile.Well-organized, pro-active, service-oriented, and committed to owning responsibilities.Strong communication skills.Fluent in English.
